Hectic Scheduling And Some Explaining To Do

Hi there all you cats and kittens, how are you?

(Yes I did just binge watch the Tiger King docuseries)

Alas, it seems I have some explaining to do. One may even say that I am a hypocrite. The first week after saying I would be more consistent with the planning, creation, and publication of the blog, I did not even post. In fact, I did not even give an explanation as to why I did not post. How very rude of me.

Indeed, here is a perfect example of how I imagine you may all be looking at me right now.

Let's start at the beginning and see if I can worm my way out of your bad books.

Workin' 9-5...

Ever since I finished my second year of uni, I have been looking for a job so that I can earn enough money to enjoy myself during my last year. Of course, since the government have done literally nothing to help the student population despite everything going on... I have not had much luck. (I know that such an argument may be a little bit controversial but, seriously, I have had to pay rent for a tenancy that does not start until September, whilst paying rent for a property which the landlord could just get a mortgage holiday for... not forgetting that I had been studying full time without a job and not a single place was hiring by the time I had finished exams. Even just a free scratch card would have been nice, Boris. Students are the future of this country and all that...)

I am incredibly thankful that I am fortunate enough to have been able to afford this with the help of my parents.

Anyway, with the job market now being more competitive than I have ever experienced before, baring in mind I have held the same job for the past three years, I can see why students may not be a priority. Hence the first thirty-or-so jobs I applied for did not even bother getting back to me.

Not to be dismayed, I kept on applying. Weeks passed and still nothing. Finally, on a rainy Friday, when I was supposed to be writing my blog, I finally got a phone call. I had no idea what the job was. I had to wait until the call ended to look up the name of the company that the caller said they worked for. It turns out that it was a little holiday resort that was looking for a housekeeper. Suddenly it all made sense why they asked me if I had any cleaning experience...

Caught up in the excitement of my 'trial shift' which effectively turned out to be an on-the-spot hire, the weekly blog post was lost from consciousness. It was not until the end of said shift the next day that I realised I had cruelly neglected my loving fans. Again, words can not express how sorry I am.

(He loves me really)

Two For The Price Of One

My first shift went a little like this...

I turned up for the shift at 9am, as instructed, and we were taught all of the techniques and standards by which we would be held accountable. Then we just started cleaning. It really was that simple. Miracle. Or so I thought...

It turns out that this will likely remain only a Saturday job and, whilst the pay is good, it is not enough to be paying any rent any time soon. I would have to keep on looking for a second job.

But not for long! A small supermarket that is not particularly nearby, good thing I have a car, has offered me an interview! I must say, weeks of looking only for two to come along at once did have me on the brink of yelling "Typical," but I refrained for want of maintaining the youth I have left in my twenties. Now, this interview has not yet happened. It is on Sunday. But, I went into town today and bought myself a nice pair of chinos to fit the "smart but comfortable" specification and an incorrect price tag meant that Mother only spent £1.50 on a £20 pair of trousers. Needless to say, I have taken it as a good omen.

Why was I in town? Why was Mother buying me things? I got my second year results the other day, it was an "I'm so proud of you" sort of thing because I got a 2:1. Mind you, getting 69 is a bit of a pain given what could have been. At least my childish former self may have gotten a kick out of the result.

But, What About The Blog?!

Ah yes, the age old question.

After my trial shift on Saturday I had agreed to go to my Father's house so that I could be closer to my girlfriend. Given that I had been out of work for months, the excitement of meeting all these new faces and having to force into memory a whole new list of chores was rather draining. Saturday swiftly became Sunday. But... again... no post was made. Turns out that I had booked a grand day out at one of Cornwall's many National Trust gardens, Godolphin. Of course, I could hardly say no given that this was a date. It was nice, there was a hill with a view and it had a load of flowers. That's about all you need to impress me these days.

Now, when it got to Monday, I knew it was too late. I made the executive decision to not write a post. Over two months of consistent blog posts had come to nothing. All of my integrity as a blogger, tarnished.

All I can say is that weekly posts should resume from now. If you can find it in your hearts to forgive me it would be much obliged.

Wish me luck for Sunday!

Stay Safe.
